In this three-session course, we’ll break down the process of creating your nonfiction book proposal, whether you are just beginning, in the midst, or starting over. Each class will focus on specific aspects of the nonfiction book proposal with the opportunity for workshop and feedback on your proposal in progress. The class will be broadly structured as follows:
Class 1: What Is a Nonfiction Book Proposal? (And why it’s important!) + Perfecting Your Pitch
Class 2: Selecting Your Best Writing + Query Letter 101
Class 3: Finding Your Comp Titles and Positioning Your Marketing Strategy + What Now? The Querying and Submission Process
Students will leave the course with a breadth of knowledge about this challenging, often unnecessarily intimidating, step to selling their book and finding the right agent or editor.
