This workshop will discuss the many ways to launch a book, especially for writers who do not have access to a large budget—their own or their publisher’s—to pay for promotion services. Topics will include the role of author platforms in contemporary book business, organic ways to attract and grow an audience for one’s work, online presence in our digital age, the blessings and curses of social media, community-building and literary citizenship, ideas for pre-launch and post-launch of a book, and ways to maintain sustainability with the business aspects of writing, while taking the pursuit of one’s art and craft seriously.
