Join editor and author Alisson Wood for a three-session course that breaks down the process of creating a nonfiction book proposal. Each class will focus on specific aspects of the book proposal, with the opportunity for workshop and feedback on select proposals in progress, time permitting. The class is suitable for writers at any stage of the process—just beginning, in the midst of, or starting over on a book proposal—and will cover:
- What is a nonfiction book proposal, and why it’s important
- Perfecting your pitch
- Selecting your best writing
- The query letter
- Finding your comp titles and positioning your marketing strategy
- The querying and submission process
Students will leave the course with a breadth of knowledge about this challenging and often unnecessarily intimidating step to selling their book and finding the right agent or editor.
