Flash fiction is in many ways an entry point to storytelling because it encourages the kind of precision and thematic understanding that all compelling fiction must have. The form wastes no time immersing readers in all the elements of narrative with a special emphasis on time. Flash fiction can span a few seconds, generations, or even millennia.
This workshop will emphasize development of short-short stories with a focus on critical elements of narrative, ways to make great and small leaps through time in very short spaces, as well as developing and recognizing a unified sense of character and symbolism through syntax, diction, and use of objects.
